Fall 2012 Stitcher's Package - Aunt Julia’s Sewing Box

This includes classes with our guest teacher and materials.

Participants in this 2 day class will learn to build an 8” chipboard box with removable divided tray insert. Once students have constructed the box they will cover it with charming fabric chosen to coordinate with the five stitched accessories created exclusively for and available only through this class.  Similar in style to a 19th century band box, the project includes instructions for five stitched needlework accessories:  needle and scissor pocket, a thread book, a 3” measure, a pin cushion, and a scissor fob.  This will be a one of a kind heirloom that will surely be treasured by everyone’s family.  All of the materials needed to create the box and accessories are supplied in each student’s kit.

Kit includes: chip board box pieces, two pieces of coordinating fabric as shown in model, glue, threads for twisted cording, fusible interfacing, quilt batting, charts and finishing instructions, 36ct Light Examplar linen, and threads.

Students will need: Tool for cord making, fabric sheers, embroidery scissors, 18” or greater ruler, sewing needles, light , magnification, and others tools students use for stitching projects. It is suggested that students bring trims they might like to use to accessorize their box as these are not included.

Meals include:

  • 1 welcome reception, 3 x breakfasts, 2 x lunches, 2 x dinners, 1 afternoon tea.
