Autumn 2010 Project

Gingerbread Tree Etui

Instructor: Thea Dueck

A delicious addition to Thea's popular Gingerbread Stitching House.

She has created a beautiful four-sided Gingerbread Tree Etui trimmed with button and bead candies, fully lined and decorated with white ‘icing sugar’ snow. It is stitched on Gingerbread coloured linen, with delectable silk flosses, beads, silks, multicoloured beads and buttons for candy tree decorations. A sneak preview here shows one (undecorated) side of the 'Tree'... including a cute icing sugar snowman watching over the town. On the other three sides, there are different snow scenes; a horse and sleigh, Santa flying over the town, and two stitchers stitching by a fire. The matching Pincushion and Scissors Case are placed inside the tree, and are the perfect Christmas Stitching Accessories.

You will practice Spider Web Roses, Bullion Knots, Silk Ribbon Roses, Lazy Daisies, Herringbone, Rhodes Stitches, and learn how to finish the pieces. Lisa's directions, and Thea's colour photos will make finishing easy for you to do at home. Set your new Gingerbread Tree Etui next to your Gingerbread Stitching House on the mantle, use as a centerpieces for your Christmas table, or set them beside your Stitching Chair to add some extra Christmas Cheer. Be prepared to learn Specialty Stitch points of perfection in class while Cross Stitching the larger areas... you can relax and stitch together without losing your concentration!

The retail value of the materials for this project is $150 and they are provided to you inclusive as part of the retreat.

We hope you take this set of ‘smalls’ along on many future stitching retreats. :)
