New England Stitchers Retreats

Welcome to NEW ENGLAND STITCHERS RETREATS - please join your hosts, Nataly and Marie, in beautiful New Hampshire for  a very memorable stitching experience with outstanding needlework designers.

We have two retreats planned for October 2012 in New Hampshire, USA.

Read our Stitching Retreat Blog to keep up to date with the latest news from New England Stitchers Retreat.

We'd love it, if you'd take a few minutes to fill in our Stitchers Survey Form to help us plan our retreats better.

Join us for one of our stitching retreats where you will:

  • participate in an all inclusive, intimate retreat, restricted to a maximum of approximately 30 overnight guests.  With our retreats there is no need to worry about additional accommodation or meal costs - everything is included.  No need to give up precious stitching time to stock up on groceries, drinks and supplies.  We even provide late night snacks!
  • enjoy 3 delicious meals daily (a glass of wine is included with dinner) and a wine/cheese and dessert reception on the night before the retreat starts. No meals are included for the optional extra night. We provide water, soda, tea, coffee and hot chocolate throughout the retreat.
  • meet and learn new needlework designs, specialty stitching and finishing skills from the experts, in a two day needlework class (including kit & supplies)
  • make new stitching friends or perhaps meet up with old friends!
  • have uninterrupted stitching time in our Stitching Lounge, open 24 hours per day!
  • meet our retreat designer/instructor at an evening "Welcome" reception
  • experience a delicious late afternoon tea and shopping spree at ABC Stitch Therapy in Grantham, NH
  • take time to explore and learn something about the history of the Great Stone Dwelling, our retreat residence for the weekend
  • enjoy the New Hampshire countryside (our fall retreats are scheduled to take place during the peak of the autumn leaves) - come to the retreat a day early and take time to enjoy the peace and quiet and beauty of the fall.

Our retreat location will be at The Enfield Shaker Museum in New Hampshire with accommodation provided within the historical Great Stone Dwelling House.

Great Stone Dwelling House at Enfield Shaker Museum

This magnificent building incorporated every luxury and convenience available in 1841 and embodied the Shaker's commitment to the pursuit of perfection, harmony and productivity. The first floor was primarily dedicated to preparing and eating the communities meals. The second floor housed the Meeting Room as well as 4 dwelling rooms (these rooms are now museum rooms and not available for accommodating guests. The third and fourth floors contained 8 dwelling rooms per floor, each (2 double bedded) room measuring approximately 20' x 20'.  Single bedded rooms on these floors are a little smaller but still very spacious rooms).  Some rooms will accommodate a third bed - please contact us if you require a room accommodating 3 beds as these are very limited and dependent on the availability of extra beds. All of our guest rooms have private bathrooms, some with tub/showers and others with showers only.  The fifth and sixth floors were used as work spaces and storage. Many rooms today still boast a stunning array of built in drawers and cupboards, closets, pegrail, and Shaker furniture making each room a little different. In short, the Great Stone Dwelling contains all the innovations the Shakers could conceive of to make their temporal home the reflection of the spiritual perfection they pursued in their communal lives in Enfield.  Access to the 3rd and 4th floor rooms are by stairs only - due to the historic nature of the building elevators are not available however assistance will be provided in carrying your suitcase to your rooms.  The dining room and classroom is located on the 1st floor.  We are privileged to be able to use this facility for our retreats and the feedback from past retreat guests has been wonderful.

In all, a fabulous venue for a weekend of stitching away.

 Your hosts,

Nataly and Marie
